The “Mountain Jim” concept originated from childhood experiences on a farm and a deep love for outdoor adventures. When we launched the company, we already had a clear brand identity rooted in those values.
Every package of our products includes trivia or historical facts—similar to the classic Cracker Jack prize wrappers—what we call ‘edutainment’: a fun blend of learning and entertainment. Initially focusing on animal-themed ice creams enriched with fascinating facts about wildlife, camping, hiking, and outdoor cooking, we later expanded to Mountain Jim’s Tennessee tea cakes.

The Legend of the Teacake
According to Southern lore, during the Civil War in antebellum Tennessee, a seventeen-year-old Southern belle, renowned for her beauty and baking skills, perfected family recipes that included beloved tea cakes. Amid wartime shortages preventing a full-sized birthday cake for a visiting young officer, she crafted small tea cakes instead.
